The app brings support for reading DRM-free ePub books. Marvin 3 is a widely popular eBook reader for iPad and iPhone. If Books wasn’t the app you were looking for, you should definitely give Marvin a try. Can’t connect to external ePub libraries such as Calibre and others.However, you can obviously choose to stop this animation from happening as well. This was a free update for existing Comic Life for iPad users. There’s also a nice page turning animation within the app to give it a more realistic feel. Knowledge Answer Yes Since version 2.0 - Comic Life for iPad has been renamed to: Comic Life 2 for iOS. Plus, you get a nice dark mode as well, which is perfect for reading at night. The app offers a pretty clean interface with no unnecessary design flourishes, which is great. Plus, you can obviously sync your own ePub files to the iPad and read them in the Books app as well.

I am looking forward to working with Mrs T in introducing Comic Life as an option for their final assignment.It comes with its own store where you can find books to download and read. Their final task is to create their own narrative or create an adaptation of an existing narrative. Currently the Year 4/5 class is studying narratives through another technology based-model called SOLE (Self-Organised Learning Environments). I have been working with our RFF teacher, Mr B, closely in planning and preparing lessons that will incorporate the use of Comic Life. In my action plan, I identified school staff as people I may engage with to discuss, learn and use technology with.
I feel that when they begin being exposed to Comic Life and are given time to test out the app, they will be excited to use all the features to create a narrative (as is the task for one class), or a biography on a Famous Australian (as is the goal for the Stage 3 classes). The students at my school have not yet been introduced to Comic Life, but a recent lesson on heroes and villains demonstrated that at least one of our classes are avid comic books readers or enjoy the movies in which comic books have derived from. Comic Life can help with increasing student participation in assignments as the creative elements can "draw a student into the story or character in a way that a written report simply can't" (Thacker, 2007). I think Comic Life could be used as an alternative to the typical written assignment that is submitted without allowing students to provide creative alternatives to a book review or a narrative. This can make for a difficult time in the classroom when curriculum documents dictate you teacher particular skills or topics, but the prior knowledge is not there. They are exposed to little else outside the community they live in and their general knowledge is lacking.
The students at my school lack a lot of engagement and motivation. Allowing students to be creative, to explore, experiment and take risks with their work is important and can help to build self-confidence. You can change background colours, entire layout themes, filters for your images and the style of font. I have found that within the app there are quite a lot of choices to be made all the way through the process of creating your own comic book or alternative text type. I accidentally stumbled across an image that provided me with a list of ways Comic Life can be used and I found it fascinating that one app could have so many uses. New features include iTunes file syncing, exporting to Dropbox, WebDAV support, and high quality option when saving photos to your Photo Library. I have a had limited time with the app and am still learning all its applications to education. Comic Life for iPad 1.2 hosts a new set of import and export options that make creating and sharing comics on your iPad even easier than before. Comic Life was a last addition to my e-Portfolio.
